Counselling is a therapy which establishes a strong relationship between client and counsellor so the client is free to openly verbalise and explore any issues of concern including identity, spirituality, relationships with self and others, past experiences, parenting, grief and loss, trauma, domestic violence, child abuse, use of alcohol and other substances, depression, anxiety, and other experiences.
The process of confidential expression, and feeling ‘heard’ by the counsellor, allows the mind to process the various problems so clients are able to move towards their goals.
Counsellors are fully present with their clients using empathy and deep listening to establish positive working relationship. Counselling is effective when clients feel safe, understood, respected, and accepted without judgement.
Counselling has a strong evidence base in facilitating change and empowering clients.
